Will Google, Bing and Copilot rank your site?
Check the preconditions every search index enforces — crawl access, indexability, Core Web Vitals you can measure from the server, structured data, and the Microsoft-specific controls that silently block Copilot. No account, no email.
Fetching the site and evaluating it against the Google, Bing, Copilot and Chrome rules…
Why this is separate from the AI answer test
The scan on the home page asks whether ChatGPT, Perplexity or another assistant names your brand. This tool asks a different and more basic question: can the index rank the page in the first place? Google’s AI Overviews read the Google index; Copilot reads the Bing index. If a page cannot rank, no amount of AI-specific work will surface it — and if it can, that is usually the cheapest route into those answers.
- Googlebot feeds Google Search, and AI Overviews are generated from that same index and ranking systems. Google states there is no separate submission or markup for them.
- bingbot feeds Bing and Copilot in Edge. Microsoft’s guidelines cover Bing, Copilot and the grounding API together, and state that the same crawling and ranking foundation underpins all of them.
- Chrome is not a ranking engine. It is where Core Web Vitals field data comes from, which is why it is reported separately rather than folded into Google.
What is actually checked
Every item below is a precondition the index enforces, not a guess about a ranking function nobody has published. Where Google or Bing publishes a rule, the finding links to it. Where the rule is industry practice, the report says so instead of asserting it.
- Crawl and index access. robots.txt evaluated under RFC 9309 against Googlebot and bingbot, the noindex directives, and the Microsoft NOARCHIVE / NOCACHE controls that stop Copilot using a page even when it ranks.
- On-page relevance. Title and description as a snippet preview, one clear H1, heading depth, content volume in the raw HTML, and whether the page ever uses the words a buyer types.
- Page experience, measured honestly. TTFB from a real fetch, an LCP estimate from render-blocking resources, and INP and CLS reported as not measured because they require field data this tool cannot produce.
- Structured data. Whether JSON-LD parses at all, which rich-result types are declared, and whether the markup matches content a visitor can see.
- Trust and entity signals. Profile links for sameAs, an about/contact page, and — for a business with a physical location — whether LocalBusiness markup matches the Google Business Profile.
- Copilot grounding readiness. Whether the answer is stated near the top and whether the page covers one topic, which is what Bing documents for selecting a page for grounding.

Questions people ask after using this
Does this tool tell me what position I rank at?
No, and no tool that only fetches your page can. Positions are per query, per country and per device, and they come from Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools. What this checks is the set of preconditions those systems enforce: can the crawler reach the page, can it be indexed, does it answer the query, is it fast, and does it declare what it is.
Why is my page speed showing as "not measured"?
Because Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift are measured from real Chrome users, not from a single fetch. This tool fetches the HTML once and reports what it can derive — TTFB and the number of render-blocking resources — and marks the two field-only metrics as not measured rather than giving you a plausible number that is not real. Read the true values in Search Console’s Core Web Vitals report.
Do I need to do anything special to rank in Google AI Overviews?
Google states that there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, and that there is no special schema or markup to add. Those surfaces retrieve from the same Search index using the same ranking systems, so the work is ordinary indexing and relevance work. Any advice to produce separate pages for every AI query variation is against Google’s scaled content abuse policy.
What is the difference between robots.txt and noindex for Bing and Copilot?
robots.txt controls crawling; noindex controls indexing. A URL blocked by robots.txt can still be indexed if something else links to it, and it will then appear in results described by off-page text. Both Google and Bing document this, and both say noindex is what actually removes a page. For the Microsoft side there is a third control: NOARCHIVE stops Copilot using the content in answers, and NOCACHE limits it to the URL, title and snippet.
Does social media activity affect my Bing ranking?
It is one of the most repeated claims in SEO and I could not verify it from any Microsoft primary source. Bing publishes its ranking parameters in order — relevance, quality and credibility, user engagement, freshness, location and language, page load time — and social signals are not among them. Consistent public profiles still help entity resolution, which is why the check exists, but there is no evidence that posting volume moves a ranking.
Will this make my site rank higher?
Nothing can promise that, and any tool that does is guessing. Google does not publish its ranking function and Bing publishes categories rather than weights. What a page like this can do is remove the reasons a site fails before ranking is even considered: being uncrawlable, being noindexed, rendering the content only in JavaScript, or being opted out of the AI surfaces by a forgotten header. Those are the failures that are invisible from a browser and fixable in an afternoon.
